Photo Projects
I’m supposed to be retired, but I still haven’t figured out how one retires when one wasn’t tired to begin with.
This week, though, a lot was happening and I actually felt a little tired. I also couldn’t decide what to share, so I’m posting two photo projects.
Fall Color
Almost every autumn my wife and I go on a fall-color safari. This year it was warmer than usual, so the color was a bit disappointing. I know fall color is weather-dependent, so I shouldn’t have been surprised. We took some friends along, and they kept pointing out scenes they wanted me to photograph. One of those turned out to be the best we’d seen all day—proof that other people sometimes notice what you miss.

Andromeda (M31)
I also took another crack at the Andromeda Galaxy. It was a better night overall, aside from the occasional clouds drifting across the small patch of sky I was imaging. The difference in the sky is obvious, but to be honest the sky wasn’t the only improvement—I’m getting better at both capturing and processing these images.
Saturday is supposed to be a new moon, which would have been ideal for observing and photographing, but rain is in the forecast. So I went out under better-but-not-perfect conditions. Then again, I’m not sure “perfect” ever really exists.
